“Do you really think you can make a living from photography?” My college professor asked, studying me cynically.

“Yes,” I answered simply. “I believe that I can.”

I set out with my camera and began to experiment with different types of photography. Working as an assistant in big commercial studios allowed me to gain perspective, while quickly developing and broadening my skill set.

In 2005, I started working as a photojournalist for ynet.co.il, a popular online Israeli publication. Only one year later, I found myself photographing the Lebanon war. Photojournalism was a profoundly significant personal and professional experience for me.

Around this time I also began to shoot weddings and fashion in Israel, but my heart was set on moving to Canada. I made the move in 2007 and left my business to one of my colleagues. I am proud to say that he now has one of the most reputable wedding photography businesses in Northern Israel.

Starting over again in a new country was a major challenge for me: getting to know the culture and the people, learning the language, and of course, establishing my new business. It was an extraordinary experience, especially because my first wedding shoot was booked just four days after I landed in Canada!

Since then, I have photographed over 80 weddings. Each and every one has been a unique chance for me to increase my knowledge, skills, and experience.

Recently, I upgraded from standard professional cameras to a more specialized and premium Digital Medium Format. I am now using the exceptional award-winning H4D-40 rig by Hasselblad, which allows me to provide my clients with the absolute highest quality images available in the industry today.

Over the years I have added commercial photography to my range of services, expanding my focus to include food photography, portraits, and headshots (special thanks to Telegraph, for giving me the opportunity to unleash my creativity). I photograph for many well-known restaurants in the Montréal area and I am always open for new projects and clients.

In my opinion, photography is about passion and joy. My satisfaction is rooted in providing my clients with results that amaze them every time.

In the telling of my journey, I cannot close without mentioning my incredible good fortune in meeting my beautiful wife Helena, who has always been there to support me during challenging business decisions (no matter how expensive they may be!)

When I reflect back upon the question my professor asked me years ago, I still find myself coming to the same conclusion (although now, perhaps, I know enough to say, “Yes, but it won’t be easy”). After all this time, I still enjoy every moment I spend with a camera in my hands. Seeing the looks on my clients’ faces gives me the motivation to go on and on.
