“Do you really think you can make a living from photography?” My college professor asked, studying me cynically.
“Yes,” I answered simply. “I believe that I can.”
I set out with my camera and began to experiment with different types of photography. Working as an assistant in big commercial studios allowed me to gain perspective, while quickly developing and broadening my skill set.
In 2005, I started working as a photojournalist for ynet.co.il, a popular online Israeli publication. Only one year later, I found myself photographing the Lebanon war. Photojournalism was a profoundly significant personal and professional experience for me.
Around this time I also began to shoot weddings and fashion in Israel, but my heart was set on moving to Canada. I made the move in 2007 and left my business to one of my colleagues. I am proud to say that he now has one of the most reputable wedding photography businesses in Northern Israel.
Starting over again in a new country was a major challenge for me: getting to know the culture and the people, learning the language, and of course, establishing my new business. It was an extraordinary experience, especially because my first wedding shoot was booked just four days after I landed in Canada!
Since then, I have photographed over 80 weddings. Each and every one has been a unique chance for me to increase my knowledge, skills, and experience.
